Prayer is sometimes thought of as a one way dialogue, where we tell God what is on our spiritual and on our practical shopping lists.  But of course it is so much more than that.  Prophecy and listening to God are an integral part of prayer.  How much better to listen to what is on God’s heart and then pray it back to Him?  Then we can truly pray, ‘Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done’.

Listening to God to hear what He has to say about us and about our own lives is a great joy.  It sets us up to be steadfast in serving Him.  We can also listen to God and prophesy what we hear over others.  This can bring great blessing and encouragement to our friends.  Of course, God dose not only speak to us with words.  He conveys what He wants us to know in many different ways.  He ‘speaks’ by words and pictures, by fleeting impressions, as we write in a journal, and in a myriad other creative ways.

These authors are well versed in prophecy and listening to God.  So they will help us to start listening to God in various ways.  Then they encourage us to push out further in prophecy  They also explain how to respond when someone prophesies over us.  They teach about the importance of character in the prophet.  Character is essential if we are to expand our horizons and prophesy over nations and the big issues of society.
