Prophetic evangelism
Prophetic evangelism is witnessing with a difference. In traditional evangelism, we spread the good news about Jesus. Then we hope and pray that someone will show an interest. However when we join prophecy to evangelism, we take the pressure off ourselves. It’s no longer about our performance. Instead we listen to God, and follow His leading. We trust Him to lead us to those with whom He wants us to share the gospel, whose hearts He has already prepared.
SOME KEY TITLES: Maybe the most prophetic evangelism is The ultimate treasure hunt. Here we listen to God, and write down what He tells us about someone whom we will meet. This is usually something that will identify them, perhaps their clothing or location, and often a felt need. Then we go out as if on a treasure hunt to find that person. When we find someone and tell them what God has told us, and perhaps show them what we have written, they are usually delighted. Almost invariably they are open to prayer, and it’s easy to point them to Jesus.
Stepping into the impossible shares the Healing on the Streets model of prophetic evangelism. Prayer is offered, and each person is asked what they would like healing for. Then the team listen to the Holy Spirit, and pray prophetically for the felt need. But they may also pray more widely as they are led. When Jesus meets a person and heals them, they want to know more about Him!
