Images of hope is not just a colouring book, but it's an inspiration.
It contains beautiful hand-drawn illustrations, based on carefully chosen Scripture verses. Each one is thoughtful, original and brimming with hope. These create not just a wonderful colouring book, but an experience of real depth and revelation.
We all need to know that there is something to hope for. We hope for many things, but ultimately our hopes and dreams are met in Christ. Woven through the pages of Images of hope, in the verses and drawings, you will find the broad brush strokes of this hope - the hope given to us by the God who loves us.
Because we are created in the image of Creator God, we each have creativity placed within us. Childhood often provides the freedom and opportunity to explore this creativity. But the busyness and complexity of adult life can sometimes leave little space for such things. Images of hope will remind you of the simple delight of creating. It will inspire you to explore your own creativity, the things that you love doing and the things that you were created to do. Most of all, it will help you to take time out to draw closer to Creator God, and to discover the amazing plans that He has for your life.
Jacqui Grace shares how this book came about:
'I damaged my hand ..... and as a result I was forced to take a rest. This opened up valuable time to think, to reassess and to seek God for His plans for me. It was also a chance to revisit old dreams and ideas and to remember the things that first inspired and motivated me. One of the things that has always enthralled me is Scripture. God's word contains so many wise and wonderful truths. As I dwelt on them, I began to doodle. Those doodles were the beginnings of this book, and the start of a new and exciting chapter in my life!
How to use Images of hope:
- You don't have to start at the beginning, but just pick a page that appeals to you.
- As you colour, think about the words and meditate on them. Does anything in particular stand out to you? Why? Allow God to speak to you as you colour.
- Maybe you could commit some of the verses to memory. Or look up the verses in different translations and explore the passage in more depth.
- Some of the pages deliberately have no words. Perhaps you could use these as a way of praying for different people or situations, or of working through your own thoughts and ideas.
- Don't be shy to share your creations and what you've learned.
- Most of all, relax and have fun! Enjoy the process, not just the end result. Make this book your own individual expression of creativity.
'Jacqui's Colouring Books allow me to meditate on the Scriptures and provides an outlet for my creativity, all without taking up too much time, which is important for me as the mother of a one year old.' Tracy
The front cover of Images of hope is enhanced with gold foil. The pages are 25 cm x 25 cm, and the paper is a lovely heavy quality.
Exploring the Psalms is not just a Colouring Journal; it's a lot more.
If you like devotional colouring, you will enjoy colouring the images from 10 favourite Psalms. If you like journalling, there is plenty of space to do just that in response to these same 10 Psalms.
But this is also the perfect introduction for anyone who has not yet explored colouring or journalling as part of their devotional time. To help you get started, the images are not too intricate. Some of the journalling pages have thought provoking prompts, such as this one in response to Psalm 103: 11 - 12:
'Have you ever wondered how much God loves you?
What does it mean to you to know that you are loved with an unconditional and immeasurable love?'
There are just enough devotional thoughts to prompt you, while still giving you freedom to reflect in your own way. There are also a few creative craft projects to consider. At the end there are pages with a creative template for Bible Study, a Prayer Diary, and space for Answers to Prayer, and Verses to Remember.
'The phrase "Selah" is often used in the Psalms and is translated as "to pause, stop and breathe", instead of rushing on to the next thing ...'
I am sure that Exploring the Psalms will help you to slow down and be still, as you seek the presence of God
The paper is a lovely heavy quality, and the front cover is gold foiled. There are 72 pages, and the dimensions are 17.8cm x 22.8cm, which makes Exploring the Psalms big enough for devotional colouring, yet not too large for carrying around.
Jacqui Grace describes herself as a Christian, wife, mother, artist, and doodler! She is excited by all kinds of art and craft. She is passionate about colour, pattern, and texture, and her work is inspired by Scripture. She has designed two other inspirational colouring books, as well as Exploring the Psalms, a creative colouring journal.
